Of all the stains you may encounter, ink stains are some of the most difficult to remove. Whether a child got a hold of a pen and decided to decorate your favorite piece of furniture or you accidentally left a pen open in your shirt pocket, ink stains are a nuisance.

Luckily, there are ink stain removal products available that will make those stubborn marks disappear.

Homemade Product
Create your own ink stain removal product using the following items: 1 tbsp. vinegar, 1 tbsp. milk, 1 tsp. borax and 1 tsp. lemon juice. Simply combine the ingredients in a bowl or spray bottle and apply to the ink stain with a damp sponge. If the ink stain is on fabric you can clean in a washing machine, launder as normal after applying the homemade ink stain remover.

Fingernail Polish Remover
Fingernail polish remover will remove ink stains. Choose an unscented fingernail polish remover and test an area of the fabric that is not noticeable before attempting to remove the ink stain--some fabrics can become discolored when using fingernail polish remover. Once you have determined that the fingernail polish remover is safe to use on the fabric, pour on the affected area and blot with a damp sponge.

Isopropyl Alcohol
Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) will remove ink stains. When using isopropyl alcohol as an ink stain removal product, be sure to pour the alcohol on the ink stain and allow it to set for 30 minutes before lifting the stain with a damp sponge.
