Employees all want some sort of recognition at the workplace. Often times, this recognition only comes during yearly evaluations and raises. While getting more money certainly put people in a great frame of mind, so does that pat on the back every now and then, letting them know they are doing an awesome job.
People also love to have something to show for their hard work - and not just money either. They will proudly display Employee Awards on their desks. I still have the Glass Trophies I received throughout the years at my last job. Those trophies sit on my desk and still remind me of how excellent I am at the things I do and how much I have accomplished over the years.
Award ceremonies at company parties or events are the perfect places to hand out awards and recognition trophies to employees. Receiving that kind of recognition in front of peers is an overwhelming and exciting feeling. If you have a large business and are unable to hold large events, a small recognition dinner for those who qualify is also a great opportunity to hand out trophies and awards to those hard working employees who deserve it.
